Plymouth Independent Film Festival Seeks Feature Artist
Chosen artist to be featured during the 2007 festival
PLYMOUTH - Calling all Artists. The Plymouth Independent Film Festival is seeking an artist to feature during our 2007 Festival. The artist will be given a showcase during the Festival’s Gala Reception, and select pieces of work will be exhibited at various locations throughout the festival.
In addition to the exhibit itself, the artist will receive a full page on our soon to be renovated website, local press coverage, and mention in festival literature including the 2007 brochure, and poster. He or She will also be given two passes to all festival screenings, workshops and parties.
As the Festival enters its third year, submissions are coming in from all around the globe as film makers compete to take part. Already, 2007 is shaping up to be an exciting one for Plymouth and film!
In the past, the Festival has featured those who document history and enlighten through masterful, though often heart wrenching, interpretations of social issues. It has also hosted Academy Award winners and nominees, and masters in the genres of short films and animation.
In celebration of the arts in all disciplines, the Festival has sought to include performances by musicians, dancers, comedians, and artists, and to create everlasting relationships with all who share in this celebration.
For artists wishing to be considered for the feature slot, the criteria, in keeping with the independent theme, are simple. The artist need not be well known. Non-professional photos will be considered equally with high-end. The strength of the artist’s work should speak for itself.
It is preferable that the artist hail from Southeastern Massachusetts and that they have a body of work that contains at least 8-10 pieces. The work can be two or three dimensional. It should be thought-provoking, energetic and fresh. Work with social, environmental, or intelligently humorous content, or a combination of the three, is desired.
Submissions must be done electronically. All interested parties should forward a letter of interest and 8-10, no more than 12, please, photos to leslie@plyfilmfest.org. Deadline for submissions is March 20, 2007. The work will be reviewed by Festival committee, and artists will be notified of the decision by mid-April 2007.
