Wellfleet Council on Aging Van Fundraiser
Help raise funds for a new van while having a wonderful lunch or dinner at the Bookstore in Wellfleet
The Town of Wellfleet Senior Center helps set up rides for medical appointments for Seniors. We have a few loyal volunteer drivers who donate their time, gasoline and efforts at no cost to the person being driven.

If a Senior can afford to pay a driver, we are happy to recommend drivers who have proven to be reliable and caring. The Town of Wellfleet provides some funding, within the COA budget, that allows us to pay for part of the rides for those Seniors who can afford to pay some but not all of the cost.
We do need as much lead time as possible and last minute calls for rides sometimes go unfilled.
We do not have transportation for outings, for shopping, for hair appointments or even for the fish fry on Friday nights.
If the Wellfleet Senior Center had a van, we could do some or all of these things.
We are in the queue for a van from the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority but the wait time is almost two years. If and when we do receive a van, 80% of the cost will be paid for by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
However, we will need to pay the other 20% which will amount to around $10,000 by the time we get a van.
The Friends of the Wellfleet Council on Aging is fundraising for our portion of our future van. In March and April of this year, the Bookstore Restaurant has agreed to turn back 10% of the cost of meals purchased on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays to the Friends to add to the van fund.
So, please bring your coupon with you when you go to the Bookstore. Your waiter or waitress will staple it to your check and 10% of that check will find its way into the van fund!
You can support the fundraiser and enjoy a wonderful lunch or dinner at the Bookstore!
Please let all your friends know about this. Extra coupons will be available at the Senior Center so you can have as many as you need.
