Drawn Together in Brewster: Creating a Community Portrait
DrawnTogether: First Parish Brewster and Our Partner Church in Jobbagyfalvar, Romania
Creating Portraits of Each Other
Y
ou are invited to draw a portrait of another person here at First Parish to send to our partner church in Romania.
In June we will mail off our portraits to our Partner Church in Jobbagyfalva, Transylvania as a gift and as a way of showing them who we are as individuals.
They will see what we look like, and we will have gotten to know ourselves better through this artistic experience.
“Draw a what?” you ask
Don't say you can't draw! You will be amazed at the portrait that you will create. Be willing to try something new. Let your inner child have some fun!
Four accomplished and patient artist-teachers and a veteran teacher have volunteered to help you: Liz Perry, Karen Dowcett, Marie Stackpole-Hayes, Karen North Wells and Leslie Fedge.
The goal is to have as many people participate in this project as possible.
The process of creating these portraits will draw us closer to each other, too.
How and When
You can attend one of five 2 hour portrait sessions during March and April. You might want to draw a friend, partner, sibling, neighbor, spouse, child, parent, or leave it to chance and come meet someone you don't know.
Sign up for one or more sessions in the book at the coffee hour counter.
Dates are:
- Saturday, March 17, 10am to noon
- Saturday, March 24, 1pm-3pm
- Tuesday, April 17, 6pm to 8pm
- Tuesday, April 24 6pm-8pm
- Sunday, April 29 after the 11 am service and before the Brewster in Bloom parade
