AmeriCorps Cape Cod Seeks Volunteers for April Canal Clean-up

7th annual Canal Clean-Up scheduled for Saturday, April 21st, 2007
AmeriCorps Cape Cod and the Army Corps of Engineers will be hosting their seventh-annual Canal Clean-Up on April, 21st 2007, the day prior to Earth Day, to promote citizen involvement in their community as well as to maintain the health and beauty of the Canal. This year our day of service will be located on the Buzzard’s Bay side of the Canal, starting at the Herring Run Recreation Center. The day will run from 8:30am-1PM with registration from 8:30am to 9am and lunch from 12pm to 1pm.
Our service day will kick off with a welcome and breakfast. AmeriCorps will send groups of volunteers up and down the canal to pick up trash. People should also be able to observe the herring making their way up the herring run located at the Recreation Center. Tables with environmental educational information will be present all day. The day will end with thank-you’s and lunch, as well as a prize raffle into which every registered volunteer will be entered.
