Woods Hole Library Announces Kid's Summer Reading Program
Woods Hole Public Library announces summer independent reading program kick-off
WOODS HOLE - The Woods Hole Public Library starts its summer independent reading program for children on June 25. It will run through to August 18. Each young reader keeps a record of the amount of time he reads each day (a minimum of ½ hour) and at the end of the week reports to the Library and receives a reward. The prizes are usually certificates for ice cream cones or cookies at Woods Hole businesses.
Kick-off concert June 26th at 3pm
In the last five years Jimmy’s Candy-Go-Nuts, and Pie-in-the-Sky have all contributed to this worthy encouragement. More recently Coffee Obsession and the Woods Hole Market have joined in, each giving more than 25 gift certificates for their wares. The children read eagerly, looking forward to their delicious treats.
The title of this year’s state reading program sponsored by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners is “Catch the Beat” and the Woods Hole Public Library will join all the other Falmouth Libraries in a kick-off to their summer reading programs with a lively concert for kids at Highfield Hall at 3PM on Tuesday June 26. Music will be provided by noted musicians Helen and Peter Allard who are known for their delightful concerts for children. The event is free and open to all children and their parents.
The Woods Hole Public Library is located at 581 Woods Hole Road in Woods Hole. Visit their website here. Highfield Hall is located at 56 Highfield Drive in Falmouth. Visit their website here.
