Date Set for 20th Annual Ptown Harbor Swim for Life
Annual Community Swim/Flotilla Benefits AIDS, Women's Health and Youth

PROVINCETOWN - Celebrating two decades of successful fundraising and community building, swimmers, paddlers and Provincetown aficionados from across the country will converge on Cape Cod for the 2oth Annual Provincetown Harbor Swim for Life & Paddler Flotilla, A Community Benefit for AIDS, women's health and youth, on September 8, 2007. The 2006 event raised $160,000 from over 300 swimmers and paddlers. Beneficiaries include the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod, Helping Our Women, Outer Cape Health Services, Cape & Islands Gay Straight Youth Alliance, Provincetown Rescue Squad and Lower Cape Ambulance. Business sponsors for this year to date include: The Provincetown Banner, Paul Mitchell, The Boatslip Resort, and Far Land Provisions. The Swim for Life is sponsored in part by the Provincetown Tourism Fund.
Artist Susan Baker has designed the poster and t-shirt for the 2007 event (see image on right).
This popular post-Labor Day community festival will be held at the Boatslip Resort, 161 Commercial Street, and includes the Mermaid Brunch, entertainment and the awards ceremony. The Celebration of Life Concert will be held at the Meeting House on Friday evening. The Pool Swim - for those harborly-challenged - will be held simultaneously with the harbor swim at the Surfside Hotel & Suites' pool.

The Provincetown Community Compact, organizer of the event, is a private, non-profit, tax exempt organization founded in 1993 to support the arts, environment, and well-being of Provincetown. Compact projects include the C-Scape Dune Shack, the Fowler Dune Shack, and fiscal sponsorships for art and community projects. It is a co-founder of the Academy of Art, Science, and Technology at Provincetown High School.
