Free bus tour to Hull's wind turbine announced
CIREC announces bus trip to visit Hull's wind turbine on Tuesday, August 28, 2007
As part of the Cape & Islands Renewable Energy Collaborative’s efforts to increase the public’s awareness of renewable energy, we are organizing a free bus tour on Tuesday, August 28th to provide residents and officials with a first-hand view of Hull’s newest 1.8 megawatt wind turbine. Officials and residents from local communities where wind projects are being contemplated are encouraged to come along for the ride and to see, hear, and learn about Hull’s highly successful wind installation. This trip is for citizens and decision makers who are interested in seeing a utility scale wind turbine up close and meet and speak with John MacLeod from the Hull Municipal Light District.
The bus will be leaving Tuesday, August 28th from the Cape Cod Mall parking lot on the Route 28 side of the Mall in Hyannis (by the light). The bus will leave at 8:30 a.m. The bus will also be stopping off at the Sagamore Park and Ride at 9:00 a.m. We will visit the turbine and speak to the turbine manager who will answer questions and give details on the hows and whys of Hull’s Vestas V66, 1.8 MW wind turbine. We will be returning to Sagamore at 1:30 and Hyannis at 2:00. We suggest that you bring a bag lunch.
Bus service is provided by Pina Bus Lines. The trip is made possible by funding from the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative. This program is part of the ongoing efforts of Cape and Islands Self-Reliance and Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve to provide educational outreach on Land-Based Utility Scale Wind.
The bus ride and program are free however seating is limited and reservations are required, so please call Self-Reliance at 508.563.6633 for more information or to reserve your seat.
