Cape Cod Foundation GALE Fund requests grant proposals

Proposals must be postmarked by March 14, 2008

YARMOUTHPORT - The Cape Cod Foundation is requesting proposals for grants from the Gay and Lesbian Equity Fund.

The fund aims to raise awareness of and generate support for issues affecting Cape Cod's lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community. "We look forward to receiving proposals from a wide variety of groups and organizations to better support this local community," said Lisa McNeill, director of programs for the Cape Cod Foundation. Grants typically range from $1,000 to $5,000; however, larger requests will be considered.

Since its inception 10 years ago, the GALE Fund has distributed approximately $160,000 to youth groups, senior citizens groups, and diversity programs in schools and community organizations.

The Cape Cod Foundation was founded in 1989 with a mission of improving the quality of life for the people of Cape Cod. The GALE Fund was established at the Cape Cod Foundation in 1998, and its mission is to provide funding and other resources to organizations and programs that support the LGBT community. The goal of the GALE Fund grants program is to encourage informed, relevant, collaborative and effective programming about lesbian and gay issues, responding to the most pressing needs identified by the community. The GALE Fund has distributed approximately $160,000 to community organizations over the past nine years.
