Pilgrim Monument Goes Red!
Museum joins the American Heart Association in their "Cape Goes Red 2008" Event
The monument and other Cape landmarks will shine red February 1 through February 15

PROVINCETOWN - The Pilgrim Monument is proud to join the American Heart Association in their “Cape Goes Red 2008” event, part of the AHA’s Go Red for Women. In an effort to raise awareness about women’s risks from cardiovascular disease, the Pilgrim Monument will join other landmarks across the Cape shining red during the evenings of February 1 – 15th. It is hoped that other Provincetown non-profits, businesses and residents will join the Pilgrim Monument as a community partner with the American Heart Association in these efforts to light up the Cape in red.
In addition, Seamen’s Bank is sponsoring a “Heart Healthy Winter Climb” of the Pilgrim Monument to celebrate “Cape Goes Red 2008” on Saturday afternoon, February 16th from noon until four o’clock. The Pilgrim Monument commemorates the Mayflower Pilgrims first landing in America. The tower is 252 feet 7 1/2 inches high. The Monument is the tallest all-granite structure in the United States. Enjoy your walk to the top on 60 ramps and 116 stairs. Dr. Judy Yorio, a physical fitness trainer from Willy’s World Wellness and Conference Center has volunteered to lead the climb and be on hand to discuss the benefits of heart healthy walking. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to see Provincetown’s “best view and museum, too!” Admission is free. For more information, please visit our website at www.pilgrim-monument.org or call 508-487-1310.
This year alone, heart disease will take the lives of over 500,000 women – our mothers, our daughters, our sisters and our friends. That’s nearly twice the death rate as all forms of cancer combined, including breast cancer.

Admission Adults $7.00; Seniors (age 62+) and Students (15+ with ID) $5.00; Children (4 – 14) $3.50; Children 3 and under: Free. Admission is free every Sunday morning from 9 a.m. to 12 a.m.
