Public invited to comment on reaccreditation for Cape Cod Community College

The Public Is Invited to Comment On Reaccreditation For Cape Cod Community College

Written, signed comments must be received by April 16, 2008

Cape Cod Community College will undergo a comprehensive evaluation visit by a team representing the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (CIHE) of the New England Association of School and Colleges (NEASC), April 13-16, 2008. The Commission is one of the eight accrediting commissions in the United States providing institutional accreditation on a regional basis. Accreditation is voluntary and applies to the institution as a whole. Recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, The CIHE accredits approximately 200 institutions in the six-state New England area.

Cape Cod Community College has been accredited by the Commission since 1967 and was last reviewed in 1998. Its NEASC accreditation encompasses all academic credit and student services related elements of the institution. The current review is taking place as part of the regular ten-year accreditation cycle.

Over the past two years, CCCC has been engaged in a process of self-study, addressing the Commission’s eleven Standards for Accreditation. The evaluation team will carefully review the results of that work, and gather evidence to determine that the self-study is thorough and accurate. After completing its review, the team recommends to the Commission a continuing status for the institution. After following its own review process, the Commission itself will take final action on reaccreditation.

The public is invited to submit written comments regarding the institution to:

Written, signed comments must be received by April 16, 2008. The Commission cannot guarantee that comments received after the due date will be considered. Comments should include the name, address, and telephone number of the person providing the comments.

The Commission cannot settle disputes between individuals, and institutions, whether those involve faculty, students, administrators, or members of other groups. Individuals considering submitting complaints against an affiliated institution should request the separate Policy and Procedure for the Consideration of Complaints Made Against Affiliated Institutions from the Commission office.
