Attention All Girls: Time to Get Your Geek on @ Geek Girl Camp April 17th!
Ladies, you won't want to miss GEEK GIRL CAMP!
Thursday, April 17th, 2008
HYANNIS - Don't miss Geek Girl Camp on Thursday, April 17th from 5:30pm to 9pm at the Heritage House Hotel on Main Street in Hyannis.
Are you a Geek Girl? Geek Girl Camp is a meetup and unconference that educates girls/women of all ages, on all forms of technology to assist them in their professional lives, careers, business, and at home. It is geared to empower, educate, evangelize, excite and improve the overall knowledge of the ever-evolving world of technology, specifically dealing with consumer products, computers, the Internet and web-based services.
Geek Girl Camp is dedicated to promoting technology education, including computer programming and IT, amongst school-age girls and will hopefully be offering academic scholarships soon.
It is an interactive seminar for women offering six hands-on workshops by female tech professionals on Cape Cod.
Speakers include eCape's own Julie Brooks:
JULIE BROOKS
President, eCape
Despite not knowing HTML or what the inside of a computer looks like, Julie has run eCape, Inc., one of the Cape's largest website design and marketing companies, for 12 years. (Hey, the CEO of Ford doesn't have to be a mechanic, right?)
Julie's educational and career background in art history and art sales are completely irrelevent to the success of eCape and were probably a big waste of time. Despite growing up in two meccas of hipness-Missouri and Tennessee, Julie still thinks Cape Cod is a pretty cool place to live. eCape has only one purpose-to help every business and organization on Cape Cod succeed on the Internet by either building their website and/or getting them to advertise on one of the 3 highly trafficked regional portals operated by eCape.
Mom to a 9- and 7- year old and wife to a 45-year old, Julie lives in Brewster and enjoys pina coladas and getting caught in the rain ;)
Other Cape Cod "Girl Geek" speakers include:
JUNE BERTUCCI
President
Small Office Computer Support of Cape Cod
BETH DUNN
Director of Communications
The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod
LESLIE FISHLOCK
President/CEO of Genevate
Founder of Geek Girl Camp
PAULA HERSEY
Owner
Penguin Digital Design
JANEL KESTEN
Graphic Designer
New England Reprographics
There is something for all levels of users: newbies to pros, home users to business owners.
Only $25 per attendee includes appetizers, cash bar and a great schwag bag! Registration and more information is available online at www.GeekGirlCamp.com or www.Hyannis.com
