Local Cape Chambers Form Collaborative
Nine Local Chambers of Commerce Form Professional Collaborative
Executive directors and board members of nine local Chambers of Commerce on Cape Cod have formed a professional collaborative, breaking new ground and setting an example of the benefits of regionalization on the Cape and in the Commonwealth.
“Over the past 12 months, boards of directors and staff of local chambers across the Cape have created the Local Cape Chambers Collaborative (LC3), a new entity that will enable us on a local level to strengthen our economies, better serve our members and businesses, and enhance the work of the Cape’s local chambers,” noted LC3’s recently elected chairperson, Sandy Davidson, executive director of Harwich Chamber of Commerce.
As a collaborative, LC3 represents over 6,000 businesses on Cape Cod, as well as more than 150 business leaders representing the nine boards of directors.
The overarching goals of LC3 include improving services to the traveling public at 16 local visitors’ centers, achieving economies of scale to save resources and have maximum impact, and sharing best practices to improve the success of every local business and chamber. Drawing on the expertise of LC3 board and executive directors/CEO’s, LC3 will adopt a regional problem solving approach for progress on its goals. Among the local Cape chambers that have formally joined LC3 are: Brewster, Cape Cod Canal Region, Dennis, Eastham, Falmouth, Harwich, Mashpee, Orleans, and Sandwich.
As a collaborative, LC3 represents over 6,000 businesses on Cape Cod, as well as more than 150 business leaders representing the nine boards of directors. Using an innovative co-leadership model and meeting six times per year, the collaborative will be lead by both a representative of participating staff leadership and boards of directors.
“Many of us are smaller chambers with limited staff and financial resources. LC3 offers local chambers of commerce a wonderful opportunity to leverage our collective strengths and resources to accomplish greater things together than we could on our own individually. With the depth and breadth of experience and expertise, we will be able to foster improved leadership and performance using our own members as mentors and business partners.” Davidson added.
