Mid-Cape Home Centers "Build Day" supports YMCA Camp Lyndon
Mid-Cape Home Centers Build Day supports YMCA Camp Lyndon
Build will take place May 9th & 10th
SANDWICH - The YMCA’s Camp Lyndon in Sandwich will be the focus of Mid-Cape Home Centers 2008 Build Day.
“...With the leadership, energy, generosity, talent, and wisdom of the staff and volunteers from Mid Cape Home Centers we are confident the job will be done in just one weekend” - PJ Richardson, YMCA Cape Cod
Build Day is an annual volunteer community service project that Mid-Cape Home Centers employees and customers take part in. The YMCA Cape Cod is this year’s beneficiary and the YMCA’s Camp Lyndon will be the location for Build Day to take place May 9th & 10th. Projects slated are a rebuild of the existing Boat House, a new concession stand and a new storage facility for equipment.
“Our boathouse deck was in such disrepair we did not know where to turn.” Said PJ Richardson, Youth & Community Branch Director of the YMCA Cape Cod. “A project of this size would normally require a fundraising event and several years to accomplish. With the leadership, energy, generosity, talent, and wisdom of the staff and volunteers from Mid Cape Home Centers we are confident the job will be done in just one weekend.”
This project is supported mainly by volunteers, many of whom have been involved with Camp Lyndon with their own children and families over the years. Camp Lyndon helps the YMCA Cape Cod staff fulfill their mission to build strong kids, strong families and strong communities. Occupying 79 acres of pine woods with a freshwater lake front, Camp Lyndon offers a unique setting for a variety of traditional summer day camp activities.
“The Volunteers are what will make this project succeed.” Said Doug Bohannon, President of Mid-Cape Home Centers. “Without the internal Mid-Cape team and the builder, engineer and architect volunteers, this couldn’t have happened. Many of the volunteers have been personally touched by Camp Lyndon and jumped at the chance to give back to this fantastic Cape Cod asset.”
Builder and Architect partners volunteered their teams to assist alongside Mid-Cape Home Centers staff. All materials were been donated by Mid-Cape Home Centers and their vendor partners. If you would like to volunteer to help, please call Laura at 508-760-4419. Construction skills are not necessary. Just a willingness to help.
