Clean Energy Training Program Announced - First Course Starts 12/4/08
HYANNIS - Cape & Islands Self-Reliance Corporation is pleased to announce that the Cape Cod Economic Development Council of Barnstable County (CCEDC) has been awarded a Workforce Competitiveness Trust Fund grant from the state. The funds awarded in this grant along with funds from the CCEDC are being used to launch the
Clean Energy Training Program. The CCEDC, lead agency for the program, is partnering with Cape & Islands Self-Reliance Corporation and Cape Cod Community College to implement this training program. The program will offer industry focused training geared towards building trades businesses and other individuals interested in learning more about these emerging industries.
The Short Course in Photovoltaic Technology is scheduled and open for registration. Additional courses in solar thermal technology and energy efficiency are underdevelopment. Expect to hear more from us on these upcoming courses.The Short Course in Photovoltaic Technology will give participants knowledge of residential scale systems including costs, benefits, site assessments, and materials and technology. The well rounded course curriculum will provide participants with industry focused intermediate level knowledge for application in the workplace.
Participants who successfully complete the entire course will be able to enroll in an installation workshop to be held at the end of the course. This course is geared towards building trades workers interested in learning about this emerging field.
The course will consist of six (6) 2 ½ hour classes. The dates and times are:
- 6:30p.m. -9:00p.m. Thursday, December 4th, 2008
- 6:30p.m. -9:00p.m. Thursday, December 11th, 2008
- 6:30p.m. -9:00p.m. Thursday, December 18th, 2008
- HOLIDAY BREAK
- 6:30p.m. -9:00p.m. Thursday, January 8th, 2009
- 6:30p.m. -9:00p.m. Thursday, January 15th, 2009
- 6:30p.m. -9:00p.m. Thursday, January 22nd, 2009
Classes will be held at Complete Home Concepts/Mid-Cape Home Centers, 1520 Route 132, Hyannis, MA 02601,
next to Ethan Allen Furniture.
Registration will be on a first come first served basis. We know that there is a lot of interest in this course, so we recommend that you register promptly.
