Geek Girl launches first ever "tech boot camp" on Cape Cod
‘Geek Girl’ Launches First Ever “Tech Boot Camps” on Cape Cod and Boston/South Shore; Empowering Women on Technology
CATAUMET - Geek Girl Camp, educational technology meetups and “unconferences” for girls/women of all ages and all skill sets with a desire to educate themselves on computers, the Internet and technology, is holding their first ever full day “Tech Boot Camps” on March 7th on Cape Cod and March 12th on Boston/South Shore.
300 women per location will assemble on those dates at the Cape Cod Community College Adult Learning Center on Main Street in Hyannis and at Lombardo’s in Randolph, MA. With a laptop and a desire to learn, women will be instructed, taught, mentored and skilled by professional women facilitators in technology who will guide them and lead them on all hot topics, new products and basic to advanced knowledge on computers, software and the Internet.
“Technology, the Internet and computers are all here to stay, so get used to it”, states Geek Girl Camp founder Leslie Fishlock. “The longer you put off the inevitable, the more you will fall behind in both business, school, career and in your private life. Geek Girl is here for you to take part in, learn with others in the same boat and use technology to your advantage every day. This is fun stuff once you know how to use it!”
Each full day event will feature seminars, classes, breakout groups and demos about all the latest technology, newest consumer products, marketing, design, web and computers. Classes and workshops include troubleshooting your computer, how to use your PC or Mac more efficiently, learn how to really use iTunes and your iPhone, Photoshop and InDesign skills, web sites, online marketing, HTML, Vista, blogging, social networking and Internet buzzwords. There will be classes on digital photography from point, shoot, click to editing your pictures like a pro. There will be many opportunities for getting the most out of your business software, using the Internet to build your business, as well as a Help Desk manned by pros that will answer questions all day.
The information you leave with is worth the price of admission but every woman will also be leaving with a schwag bag full of great stuff, the official tshirt, giveaways and raffles as well as a big cocktail part at the end of the night.

Geek Girl Camp is looking for talented female presenters/speakers, and local and national brand sponsors for the events to offset the expenses of putting them on so they can be affordable for everyone. They are offering companies very creative opportunities to market to women, a real untapped market for consumer goods and services.
Geek Girl Camp partners with local educational foundations and scholarship organizations and will donate a portion of the proceeds for their scholarship initiatives. The money will allow women in need to take classes, go back to school and help young women just getting into college. The South Shore Women’s Business Network Educational Foundation is the educational partner for the Boston/South Shore event, and they are currently working on securing a partner for the Cape Cod event.
If Geek Girl Camp has caught your interest as an attendee, sponsor, media outlet, blogger or geek girl wannabe, find out more information on the website.
