Hyannis Main Street BID names new director
Scott Lajoie named new head of the Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District
HYANNIS — The Board of Directors of the Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District announced today that they have hired Scott Lajoie as the new Executive Director of the organization. Mr. Lajoie, a career journalist, has worked for the last five years as the editor of Cape Cod Magazine. He brings to the position exceptional communication and management skills, along with an advanced degree in public administration.
"Scott brings great enthusiasm to the job, and the ability to get things done." - David Colombo, President of the Board of Directors
Mr. Lajoie will be the successor to the Hyannis Main Street BID’s longtime Executive Director, Cynthia Cole. "I look forward to building upon Cynthia Cole's many successes and helping Main Street succeed as the Cape's premier downtown destination," Mr. Lajoie says, "I also look forward to working with the Town and other organizations to keep Main Street a safe and clean environment for its businesses and visitors, as well as to create and market events that will bring even more activity to this vibrant town center throughout the year."
David Colombo, the President of the Board of Directors, looks forward to Mr. Lajoie leading the BID into its second decade. "Scott brings great enthusiasm to the job, and the ability to get things done." Cynthia Cole, former Executive Director echoes Mr. Colombo’s sentiment, "I have confidence that Scott will continue to make downtown a desirable place to invest, spend time, live and work; and he will work hard for the property and business owners who make up the downtown community and sustain our local economy."
The Hyannis Main Street BID was formed in 1999 in response to the need to carry out the revitalization of downtown Hyannis. Business Improvement Districts (BID) across the country have been successful in revitalizing downtowns because they are funded by the property owners within the district. BIDs speak with a unified voice for their districts and are focused on the implementation of the Improvement Plan voted on by the members at the organization’s inception.
