Hope Dementia & Alzheimer’s Services will be administering free, confidential memory screens at the Chatham COA. Memory screenings help identify people with potential problems who may need more extensive evaluation; they also provide education and reassurance to those with mild age-associated changes in their memory who may otherwise worry that they have a dementia. Please note that you will not receive a diagnosis in a screening but rather an indication of whether or not symptoms of memory loss are present and should be evaluated further.

Seniors are invited to visit the store for a variety of different events, samplings and educational classes on each Wednesday. The Chatham COA will be offering transportation to and from Senior Day on November 19. The event begins at 10 am and the COA van will leave around 9 am. Space is limited. The Chatham COA will be honoring our veterans and military spouses this Veterans’ Day with a special COA Café Gourmet Lunch: Turkey Meat Loaf with Herb Roasted Potato Medley Sautéed Garlicky Green Beans and a Caramel Cookie Sundae offered free of charge to veterans and/or military spouses who are Chatham residents aged 60 or older. You will learn how to use your scarves in a creative manner. Their usage will no longer be a mystery and it will enable you to give them a personality of their own. Demonstrations will be given and practiced by all present. Bring an ample supply of your scarves – square, rectangular, or circular. If you have scarf clips, please bring and their purpose and usage will be explained. Come and join us for this informative and fun class. Great way to perk up your wardrobe.

Bob Sheehan will present “Presumed Lost . . .”, the story behind the press releases of the time, dealing with the US Subs lost in the Pacific during WWII, including the survivors and POWs.

The presentation is based on the principles of the We Honor Veterans (WHV) program.
