Route 6 crash Tuesday sends one to Boston area hospital

Yarmouth Fire Department requests MedFlight helicopter

YARMOUTH - Yarmouth firefighters responded to a two-vehicle crash on Route 6 around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.  The crash occurred in the westbound lane just past the Bass River Bridge overpass, according to a release from the Yarmouth Fire Department.

Units arrived to find that one driver had been ejected from their vehicle. The other driver was not injured. Yarmouth medics with back up from the Dennis Fire Department provided emergency care at the scene.

A MedFlight helicopter was requested and the victim was transported to the Barnstable Municipal Airport in Hyannis to meet the flight crew. The victim was then flown to a Boston area hospital.

The victim's condition is unknown, according to YFD.

The crash in under investigation by State Police.
