Body washes ashore at Woods Hole

WOODS HOLE - A body washed ashore in Woods Hole Sunday afternoon. According to Lt. Douglas DeCosta, Falmouth police were notified about the discovery by a Massachusetts Environmental Police officer around 2:30 p.m.

Falmouth police and firefighters responded to the scene and declared the victim deceased.

The unidentified victim was reportedly found in the Penzance Point neighborhood of Woods Hole.

Access to the area was prohibited while police investigated.

The cause of death or the identity of the victim has yet to be released.

The incident is under investigation by the Cape & Islands District Attorney's Office, according to police.
