Truro Police Blotter: 1/13/14 to 2/9/14

Three arrests: A&B, OUI and kidnapping charges
Truro police activity for 1/13/14 to 2/9/14.

During the four-week period of Monday, January 13, 2014 through Sunday, February 9, 2014, the officers of the Truro Police Department responded to 342 calls for service.

Over the course of the four weeks, there were six suspicious activity reports and five suspicious vehicles.  There was one missing person reported and a search for that person on February 1. There was one report of threats received, one report of trespassing and one report of annoying phone calls.

There were 7 animal complaints and Truro officers were called out on several occasions the town's DPW, neighboring police departments and the National Park Service.

Three larcenies were reported and officers responded to sounding alarms on 10 occasions.

Officers pulled over 70 motorists and issued citations to 12 people. One person was placed under arrest during a motor vehicle stop for OUI (see below). There were also 8 traffic complaints.

Officers assisted with 34 fire-related calls including rescue calls, mutual aid and one unauthorized burn.

On person was arrest during a domestic disturbance call.

There were 3 arrests:

  • On Sunday, February 2 at 7:40 p.m., Melanie Jane Kewachuk, 55, of 8 Marsh Hawk Trace in Truro, was placed under arrest during a motor vehicle stop on Route 6 and charged with OUI-liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation, license not in possession and motor vehicle lights violation.
  • On Friday, January 24 at 1:31 p.m., Noah Elden Shank, 39, of 28 Old County Road in Truro, was placed under arrest during a domestic disturbance at that address and charged with two counts of assault and battery and kidnapping.
  • On Thursday, January 16 at 7:25 p.m., Joshua Scott Messina, 26, of 32 Washington Ave. Ext. in Hyannis, was placed under arrest during a call on Moses Way and charged with assault and battery.

There were 5 motor vehicle accidents:

  • Wednesday, February 5 at 5:56 a.m. on Route 6
  • Wednesday, January 29 at 9:45 a.m. at South Highland Road and Route 6
  • Wednesday, January 29 at 7:41 a.m. on Route 6
  • Monday, January 27 at 6:22 p.m. on Truro Center Road
  • Sunday, January 26 at 6:24 a.m. on Route 6
