Five OUIs, threats against a dog, no domestic disturbances

During the five-week period of Monday, August 11, 2014 through Sunday, September 14, 2014, the officers of the Truro Police Department responded to 775 calls for service.

Over the course of five weeks there was one assault, one assault and battery (arrest) and four disturbances (one arrest). There were 9 suspicious vehicles, 12 suspicious persons (one arrest) and 12 reports of suspicious activity. There were two warrant services--both ending in arrest, 4 restraining order services (2 served in hand), one trespass order, 9 summons served and one request to keep the peace.

There was one reported larceny, one report of a stolen license to carry (LTC), one attempted scam and three reports of fraud including one bad check. Officers responded to 23 burglar alarms.

Officers assisted other law enforcement agencies on 24 occasions, other agencies including town departments and park rangers on 27 occasions and citizens on 35 occasions (one protective custody). There were 18 fire alarms and 9 fire calls including 2 investigations, 2 brush fires and one open burn.

There were 60 fire/rescue calls, 14 well-being checks, 4 incapacitated persons (2 taken into protective custody), 3 missing persons, 3 reassurance checks and one medical/mental call.

Officers investigated 3 reports of vandalism/malicious destruction, 7 noise complaints, one fireworks complaint, 2 bylaw violations, 4 annoying phone calls and one report of threats made against someone's dog.

In addition to 15 unidentified animal complaints, there were 2 lost dogs, one found dog, 4 lost cats, 2 loose dogs, one dog on dog bite and 2 beached dolphins. There was also a report of a fox around people.

One hundred sixty-six motorist were pulled over. There were 58 violations issued and 15 arrests. Officers responded to 63 traffic-related calls (18 violations issued). There were 2 erratic operation calls, 20 traffic complaints (one arrest, one protective custody) and 3 parking complaints. There were 5 OUIs.

There were 22 arrests:

  • On Sunday, September 14 at 11:51 p.m., Kingsley W. Samuels, 55, of 3 Moses Way in North Truro, was arrested during a traffic stop on Route 6 and charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and failure to wear a seatbelt.
  • On Saturday, September 13 at 1:35 p.m., Thomas P. Santos, 63, of 324 Bradford Street, Apt. 19 in Provincetown, was arrested during a traffic stop on Town Dump Road and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration. There was also an outstanding warrant for Santos.
  • On Saturday, September 13 at 1:48 a.m., B. Scott Taber, 54, of 58 Harrington Farms Way in Shrewsbury, was arrested during a traffic stop on Route 6 and charged with OUI-liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation and speeding.
  • On Wednesday, September 10 at 6:58 a.m., Jennifer A. Hoey, 40 of 4 Moses Way, Apt. 6 in North Truro, was arrested during a warrant call at that address on an outstanding warrant. Hoey was arrested two days before for resisting arrest.
  • On Tuesday, September 9 at 12:51 p.m., Andrienne Marie Troia, 48, of 208 Commercial Street, Apt. 2A in Provincetown, was arrested during a traffic stop on Route 6 and charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
  • On Monday, September 8 at 12:47 p.m., Jennifer A. Hoey, 40, of 4 Moses Way, Apt. 6 in North Truro, was arrested during a disturbance call on Route 6 and charged with resisting arrest.
  • On Friday, September 5 at 8:48 a.m., Kenneth P. Miller, 64, of 180 Pilgrim Springs Road in Wellfleet, was arrested during a traffic stop on Route 6 and charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
  • On Thursday, September 4 at 3:56 p.m., Christopher John Schiffenhaus, 49, of 10 Shore Road in Truro, was arrested during an assault and battery call and charged with assault on a family/household member.
  • On Wednesday, September 3 at 7:19 p.m., Sadie Marie Souther, 25, of One Cardinal Lane in South Yarmouth, was arrested during a warrant service on Route 6 on an outstanding warrant.
  • On Wednesday, September 3 at 8:42 a.m., Devin McKenzie Curran, 28, of 32 South Main Street in Centerville, was arrested during an arrest call on Town Dump Road and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
  • On Monday, September 1 at 4:42 p.m., Shane Richard Burhoe, 40, of One Left Handed Road in Truro, was arrested during a suspicious person call on Shore Road and charged with assault and battery on a 60+/disabled person with injury. Burhoe was arrested with Hoffman, see below.
  • On Monday, September 1 at 4:42 p.m., James C. Hoffman, 43, of 10 Iyanough Road in Orleans, was arrested during a suspicious person call on Shore Road and charged with assault and battery on a 60+/disabled person with injury. Hoffman was arrested with Burhoe, see above.
  • On Saturday, August 30 at 9:14 p.m., Brandon Brothwell, 40, of 85 Fearing Hill Road in Wareham, was arrested during a traffic stop on Route 6 and charged with OUI-liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation and speeding.
  • On Saturday, August 30 at 2:05 a.m., Steven J. Caminiti, 27, of 65 Ebony Street in Staten Island, NY, was arrested during a traffic stop on Shore Road and charged with OUI-liquor, marked lanes violation, failure to wear a seat belt and possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
  • On Friday, August 29 at 2:19 a.m., Nicholas Ray Jones, 18, of 66 Beach Plum Lane in Brewster, was arrested during a traffic stop on Shore Road and charged with OUI-liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation and possession of a Class D substance with intent to distribute.
  • On Wednesday, August 27 at 9:53 a.m., Jessy Carnerio, 28, of 89 Caroline Street in New Bedford, was arrested during a traffic stop on Route 6 and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a license suspended for OUI.
  • On Tuesday, August 26 at 7:52 p.m., Mark N. Peters, 62, of 5 Shore Road in North Truro, was arrested during a traffic complaint on Shore Road and charged with OUI-liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation, failure to stop/yield and possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
  • On Tuesday, August 26 at 11:26 a.m., Caitlyn Gwynne Dionne, 23, of 570 Commercial Street in Provincetown, was arrested during an arrest call on Route 6 and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
  • On Saturday, August 23 at 12:44 a.m., Christian G. Hidalgo, 35, of 1148 Main Street in Waltham, was arrested during a traffic stop and charged with operating after revocation, marked lanes violation and failure to wear a seat belt.
  • On Friday, August 22 at 12:19 a.m., Joseph F. Rugo, 26, of 7 Hatch Road in Truro, was arrested during a traffic stop on Route 6 and charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
  • On Sunday, August 17 at 12:32 a.m., Adam Rawlings, 30, of Great Britain, was arrested during a traffic stop at Shore Road and Pond Road and charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation.
  • On Saturday, August 16 at 12:07 a.m., Kate Lee Gartside, 32 of 4 Cummings Road in Orleans, was arrested during a traffic stop on Route 6 and charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and miscellaneous motor vehicle equipment violation.

  • Saturday, August 30 at 6:21 p.m. on Highland Road
  • Wednesday, August 27 at 4:29 p.m. at Depot Road and Truro Center Road
  • Monday, August 25 at 11:37 a.m. on Route 6
  • Thursday, August 21 at 1:57 p.m. on Shore Road
  • Wednesday, August 20 at 4:19 p.m. on Coast Guard Road
  • Monday, August 18 at 4:23 p.m. on Route 6
  • Saturday, August 16 at 9:14 p.m. on Route 6
  • Friday, August 15 at 5 p.m. on Route 6
  • Tuesday, August 12 at 1:52 p.m. on Route 6
  • Tuesday, August 12 at 11:43 a.m. on Depot Road
  • Tuesday, August 12 at 10:12 a.m. on Route 6 (leaving the scene)
