Truro police arrest Attleboro man on five outstanding warrants

Michael Renaud had five outstanding warrants including failure to register as a sex offender

TRURO - An Attleboro man who reportedly failed to register as a sex offender was arrested in Truro Monday. According to a statement from Truro police, Attleboro police contacted them after developing information that 41-year-old Michael Renaud of 665 South Main Street in Attleboro, may be staying at the Adventure Bound Camping Resort on Highland Road in North Truro.

Renaud had five outstanding warrants including failure to register as a sex offender, the release said. He was also the focus of a joint investigation conducted by the United States Marshal Service and the Attleboro Police Department. Until Monday, Renaud had evaded the authorities.

Truro Detective Craig Bayer and Provincetown Detective Richard Alves set up surveillance near the campground. Renaud was eventually located in the area and taken into custody with the assistance of Truro K9 Sergeant Steven Raneo and his dog Ella.

Renaud was held without bail pending arraignment in Orleans District Court on Tuesday. His record in Massachusetts includes 18 arraignments as an adult on charges including larceny, breaking and entering, intimidation and resisting arrest, police said.
