Each year, for the past 16 years, the Cape Codder Resort & Spa has illuminated its courtyard in December with a festive holiday display, the Cape Cod Enchanted Village. The Enchanted Village is a fun attraction for hotel guests and also for local residents who come to see the thousands of lights, holiday decorations, Santa and to hear holiday music. It’s such a joyous time of year for many, but unfortunately not for everyone. That’s the reason for the Cape Codder Resort’s “Giving Tree”. All visitors to the resort are asked to bring donations of gift cards, toys and non-perishable food to place under the tree. Every year all donations are given to Independence House, Cape Cod’s leading resource, counseling and advocacy center to address and prevent domestic and sexual violence.

According to Donna Giberti, Director of Development and Marketing for Independence House, “The Giving Tree provided gifts this year for 178 women, and women with children, 44 teens in our Teen program, and 42 children in our Children Exposed to Domestic Violence and Child Sexual Violence Programs. One of our volunteers picked up truckload upon truckload of donations each week from the Cape Codder. We displayed the donations in a room at our Hyannis office so clients from all over the Cape could select gifts for their families. We are so grateful for this long-standing relationship between Independence House and the Cape Codder’s Enchanted Village. It makes a tremendous impact for these families and children at the holidays to know they have support and that our community cares.”

“Independence House makes a positive difference in the lives of so many,” said Bill Catania, President and CEO of the Catania Hospitality Group. “We are happy to hear that the donations received from our sixteenth Enchanted Village helped so many have a brighter holiday.”

The Cape Codder Resort & Spa is located at 1225 Iyannough Road, Hyannis. It is family owned and operated by the Catania Hospitality Group. For more information, visit www.capecodderresort.com
