“Secondhand Lions” – Rated PG, Running time: 109 Min.

Walter has had a hard life for a 13-year old. His no good floozy of a mother tends to get together with many equally despicable men. Before going on yet another husband-hunting trip, she drops Walter off at the house of his great-uncles Hub and Garth. In their youth, they would disappear for quite a while. The two are rumored to have acquired a great fortune, which Walter's mother hopes to get her hands on if he can ingratiate himself enough to the two cantankerous men. Though reluctant to put up with him at first, Hub and Garth grow to accept Walter. They begin to tell him fantastic stories of what they were up to while they went missing. When his mother returns, Walter must take charge of his own life, and decide what he's going to do with it.  Rated PG by MPAA for: thematic material, language and action violence. Starring: Michael Caine, Robert Duvall, Haley Joel Osment, Nicky Katt, and Kyra Sedgwick. Reservations are required. Transportation is available. Call the COA at 508-945-5190

“Wings” with Elsa Bastone

“Take Wing” and learn to create new life experiences...  Wings is a program designed by Elsa Bastone, Ph.D. to assist an individual to take action toward a goal that is desired, but is fraught with ambivalence (wanting to, and yet not wanting to, all at the same time). Have you always wanted to de-clutter, start exercising, improve your time management or weight management skills, write poetry, take an art class, or play an instrument? The list goes on... These classes will involve identifying the resistances, and   learning to deal with them; so that the individual can take action, and “Take Wing” to create new life experiences. Reservations are required. Transportation is available.   Call the COA at 508-945-5190.

FREE Podcast Club, Led by Regina McDowell

A podcast is talk radio, but on demand. It's a series of audio episodes focused on a topic or theme that you can subscribe to and listen to whenever you want. Today, podcasts tend to be completely original content. Many escape the shackles of traditional radio formats to explore brilliantly original approaches and completely niche subjects. No matter what your interests, you will find a show that suits you.
By listening to a podcast, you use your brain in a new way, expand memory, practice empathy, and hone your discussion skills-- and you learn a great amount of interesting stuff, and laugh a lot! Our podcast Club allow us to sample many subjects, many ideas, many personalities, and hear some great stories! Come with your snack or beverage, relax in a comfy chair, and join the group.  We will create notes and follow up on how to access your favorite shows. The Podcast Club meets in the COA Library, the second Tuesday of the month. Reservations are encouraged, but drop–ins welcome. Transportation is available. Call the COA at 508-945-5190 for more information.
