Elder Services Celebrates 16th Annual March for Meals

Joining with Meals on Wheels programs across the USA

Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands announced today that it will be participating in the 17th annual March for Meals – a month-long, nationwide celebration of Meal on Wheels and the homebound and vulnerable seniors who rely on its vital safety net. Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands’ March for Meals celebration will include the yearly Mayor for Meals event. As a part of this event; Town Administrators, Selectman and Community Professionals throughout the Cape and Islands are invited to help prepare and/or deliver meals to homebound seniors during our annual “Mayors for Meals” event on Wednesday March 20th.

“The services that we provide the seniors of the Cape and Islands are critical and the need is rapidly increasing,” said Louis Eppers, Nutrition Program Manager of Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands. “Together, we can keep seniors living independently, healthier at home and feeling more connected to their community as they age. Meals on Wheels is more than just a meal, it’s also a check on the recipient’s wellbeing and an opportunity for socialization for those who are isolated.

Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands serve over 317,500 meals a year to seniors in Barnstable, Dukes and Nantucket Counties.
