Wednesday night the publisher of capecodtoday.com and I enjoyed a beautiful warm summer evening, with celebrity guest Chef Kevin Sbraga who served up to 50 dinner guests outside across the street from the Chatham Bars Inn overlooking Chatham Harbor.
It began with a champagne toast at 5:30 pm followed by dinner at 6 pm.
Before being seated we had a chance to chat with many of the dinner guests from various parts of the country as well as the local Cape Cod crowd.
In recent years, the Chatham Bars Inn created a working farm on Route 6A in Brewster. The eight-acre property has a farm operated by farmer Joshua Schiff which supplies Chatham Bars Inn’s gourmet "Star's Restaurant" and guest chefs with fresh produce daily.
There were ten dishes and many vegetables served, including grilled ribeye of beef with arugula and blue cheese, seared local bass with lobster ravigote, roasted chicken apicius with Japanese white turnips, pickled shrimp tossed with a selection of multi color tomatoes
plus six creative vegetable platters. For dessert diners enjoyed Rum Baba with fresh berries, dark chocolate mousse and peanut butter banana pudding.
After dinner every guest was encouraged to bring home the vegetables from the decorative table centerpiece.
Dinner and wine continued for over two hours making it a most festive, delicious and memorable evening.
