NWS: Tuesday Starts with Temps Near 60 Ahead of Cold Front

Southern RI & far SE MA may see temps break 60 this am ahead of a strong cold front. Rain overspreads the region from west to east this morning & early afternoon, ending as a very brief period of snow.

Accumulations a coating to perhaps up to 1" in high terrain. Other than a few slippery spots possible mainly in the high terrain, impact will be rather limited.

Listed in accompanying graphics indicate our temperature forecasts at 10 am, 2 pm and 6 pm today.

 

Today
Rain, mainly after 1pm. Temperature rising to near 60 by 9am, then falling to around 39 during the remainder of the day. South wind 13 to 17 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Tonight
Rain likely before 8pm, then a chance of snow between 8pm and 10pm. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 26. Blustery, with a northwest wind 18 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 43 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Sunny, with a high near 34. Breezy, with a northwest wind 15 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph.

Increasing clouds, with a low around 27. Northwest wind 8 to 13 mph becoming light north after midnight.
