Free Six-Day Course for Those Interested in a Career in Commercial Fisheries

First session begins in January...

Chatham, MA - The Cape Cod Commercial Fishermen's Alliance has developed a free six-day course for people interested in starting a career in commercial fisheries. In 2020, the course will run in two sessions from late January to early February and late February to early March. Students will learn about basic maritime terminology, crew responsibilities onboard different types of fishing vessels, basic knot tying, offshore survival, first aid, the Cape Cod fisheries, and the types of gears used in the region. Upon successful completion of the course, students and interested captains will be given an opportunity to attend a meet and greet event at the Fishermen’s Alliance office to discuss potential hiring opportunities.
