Cape Cod, MA: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands (BBBS) will be celebrating National Mentoring Month with the help of Cape Cod Beer on January 30th, 2020 from 6:30pm-8:30pm at Cape Cod Beer’s Brewery. The Celebration of Mentoring Night, in its fourth year, is once again spearheaded by the “Bigs Council” consisting of 12 Big Brothers and Big Sisters whose goal is to help further & advance the mission of BBBS through volunteer recruitment.

“I am so grateful to the Bigs Council who goes above and beyond to make this event possible,” said JR Mell, Regional Director with BBBS. “This event provides a venue to thank our current Bigs and for those interested in learning more about becoming a mentor to meet current Bigs and hear first-hand their experience with the program.”

Cape Cod Beer has generously donated the space in honor of National Mentoring Month and there is no admission fee (although a $10 donation is appreciated). In addition, Cape Cod Title & Escrow, and MyGenerationEnergy, have sponsored to help defray the cost of the event. The event will include food, a cash bar, music, lawn style games and raffle items—including a Grand Prize Raffle which features a 2-night stay at Red Jacket Mountain View Resort in North Conway, NH for four – including daily breakfast and passes to Kahuna Laguna Water Park, generously donated by the Davenport Companies.

“I got involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters about a year ago and it was one of the best decisions of my life," says Bigs Council member Wayne White.  "A former colleague had been telling me about the organization and his experiences with his Little.  When the Celebration of Mentoring event came around, he convinced me to attend.  I met some amazing individuals there who shared their rewarding stories, reinforcing what I already knew.  I signed up that night, went through the interview process and was matched with my Little, Jake, a few weeks later."

With more than 92 kids waiting for a mentor, 70 of them boys, BBBS is especially in need of male volunteers. Pre-Registration is suggested and guests must be 21 or older to attend.  Registration and more information can be found on Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/4th-annual-celebration-of-mentoring-tickets-83044756101 or at BBBS of Cape Cod & the Islands Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/capebigs or by calling 508-771-5150 x104.
